Great content should be relatively easy to read. People don’t want to spend a lot of time looking up words, chewing through philosophy, or feeling dumb (unless that’s your audience). They want the information now, and they want it in a form they can understand.

It’s Useful

People should find your content useful. If they’ve come to your page looking for a recipe, give them the recipe. If they want information, give them the information, and give them all of it. The more time they spend on your page, the better your search engine result rating will be.

Find Your Niche

Any of these rules about great content depend on your niche. If you write high philosophy, give your readers large words and hard to understand treatises. If you write about gardening, keep your writing grounded and stay on topic.

Photos and Videos

Every post should have a photo that you have the rights to use. Pages and social media posts with photos perform better. Most photos on the Internet are not ones you can legally use on your website. Unless you pay for it, take it yourself, or have access to free photos, you shouldn’t just use any photo you find. Videos can improve the amount of time that people stay on your website. You can use most videos on any post, but beware copyrighted content illegally uploaded to YouTube and other sites. Create your own photos and videos and you won’t have to worry about copyright laws.

Sharing Is Caring

When you provide your readers with great content, they are more likely to share it on social media. When more people that interact with your content, search engines read it as valuable and rank it higher.
