Pear Penguin comes to Penguinate!

If you haven’t met Pear Penguin, yet, be ready for a dose of cuteness. Pear Penguin loves fall weather, colored leaves, and fresh fruit – (and fish!) Pear made me type that last part. Pear’s puffy belly always looks full, but it’s really Pear’s heart that is full of love for you.

Pear is looking for a forever family. As one of the few plush black and white penguins available for adoption, Pear is sure to add joy and friendship to your life or the life of someone you care about. Once the adoption fees are taken care of, Pear can be shipped worldwide.

Pear has been listening to Patch and taking Patch’s advice to heart. At about 6 and ¾ inches, Pear is the perfect size to take with you wherever you go.

Pear may be our newest penguin, but we have plenty of other penguins waiting for adoption. For every penguin adopted, $1 goes to the Global Penguin Society. Order your penguin today and have it in time for the holidays. (Only good through October 15 and while supplies last.)

‘Polly Penguin Wants to Fly’ available now!

We’re so excited because “Polly Penguin Wants to Fly” is available on Amazon, right now! You can get it in paperback or on Kindle! This is my 10th book.

When Polly hatches, she sees her father first and then she looks up into the sky and sees the terns. She’s immediately fascinated. Polly Penguin wants to fly, but she’s a penguin. Penguins can’t fly, can they?

I wrote this for parents to read to their older children ages four and above. It’s also for children who are beginning to read. If your child loves penguins, Polly Penguin is a good introduction to reading without pictures. The pictures are formed in your mind.

Check out “Polly Penguin Wants to Fly” now.

Matured Penguins and Their First Swim

When I was doing research for “Polly Penguin Wants to Fly,” the above video from National Geographic played its part. This video talks about the black tips on the wings, the down washing off during the penguin’s first swim, and swimming to the north for three or four years.

All of these concepts play a part in book, which is written for four- to seven-year olds. Parents can read it to their younger children. It is fiction, and is scheduled to be released in September. “Polly Penguin Wants to Fly,” but penguins can’t fly, can they?

Need to Be More Creative? Join Our Team within the Next 7 days

Teamwork makes the dream work! By joining our Patreon before July 31, you’ll be pushing me to write more about creative. For a limited time (the next 7 days), I will write an additional article on creativity for every 5 people that join our Patreon.

The creative process is often more collaborative than is portrayed in the stories we’ve been told. Even if someone creates something in a studio with no one else around, that person has interacted with others who have shaped him or her. The idea came from somewhere. What Isaac Newton said about science (a concept traced back to Bernard of Chartres) is just as true for art: “If I have seen further, it is by standing on the shoulders of giants.”

As part of our team, you are allowing Jenya and I to be more creative and to create more – books, stories and penguins. You will also be getting articles about becoming more creative. The Secrets of Creativity series on Patreon is for Patrons only. There are supplements to the series on my blog.

If you join at the $5 level, you even get to ask any question you want about the creativity process, what it takes to be more creative, and how penguins jump so high out of the water (or whatever other topic comes to mind). One article is already waiting to published August 14! Join now, bring your friends, and let’s get dangerous… creatively speaking.

For the last day of Amazing Las Vegas Comic Con 2019, the Penguinate table will have nine (9) Tiny Avengers to giveaway to the first nine people that come to the table and say “Penguinating is the power of positive creativity.” Be one of the first to make sure you get one of the Avengers in their original Kinder Egg packaging (minus the chocolate egg).

Our books are still available. Our most popular titles during Amazing Las Vegas Comic Con have been “Disneyland Is Creativity” and “The Haunted Mansion Is Creativity.” “The Pirate Union” and its pirates, bureaucracy and comedy from the 1990s was also talked a lot about.

If you want a chapbook of death and ghost-related stories, Brian C. Baer has given us some copies to give away. Just let us know you want one.

Come see us at Amazing Las Vegas Comic Con and find out about Russian Lobby Cards for your favorite movies in the last two years. We’re looking forward to an amazing last day!

If you like Disneyland, the Haunted Mansion and Creativity, we’ve got books for you. We also have “Adventures on the Amur” for people who like Nancy Drew and the Hardy Boys, “The Pirate Union” for those who like pirates and dislike bureaucracy, and a coloring book about penguins and Alaska and how there are none in Alaska.

We have several photos from the now defunct Disneyland Twilight Zone Tower of Terror as well as a Bug’s Land photo. ‘Disneyland’s Haunted Mansion: 50 Years of Creativity’ at Ogden Uncon and the Penguinate Booth (space 227) on Sunday

On the final day of Ogden UnCon 2019, Shad Engkilterra is scheduled to present “Disneyland’s Haunted Mansion: 50 Years of Creativity” in the Ogden Eccles Conference Center Executive Conference Room. Taking a tour through the Haunted Mansion, attendees will get history of the Haunted Mansion and tips on becoming more creative.

At our booth, there will be penguins, books, Buddhas and posters. Our stuffed penguins are handmade with hand-embroidered eyes. Many of them are dressed in costumes; there are pirates, hipsters, BerryBerets and Sally. Jack and Pintel were adopted on Saturday.

Books by Shad Engkilterra and Darren Lamb are ready to be consumed. Shad’s books include “Disneyland Is Creativity,” “The Haunted Mansion Is Creativity” and “The Pirate Union” – a rollicking adventure on the high seas sanctioned by the bureaucrats that run the PU. Darren’s books are light with Buddhist philosophy and heavy with tension and action. If you want to live a better adventure, Darren’s stories are a great place to start.

The Buddhas at our table include Yoda Buddha, Mickey Buddha, and Rick Buddha. Embedded in each Buddha is a seed of the Bodhi tree and a dorje, which is a tool used to bring positive energy to life. Strong Jesus and Cthulu Buddy Christ are also available.

Our posters include Penguin Motivational posters and Disneyland photos from The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror and Bug’s Land. If you need something a little more pop culture, ask to see our comprehensive selection of Russian Lobby Cards featuring movies from the last two years. Priced at a dollar each, these collectibles are ready to take home.

The first three (3) people to come to our booth and say “Penguinating is the power of positive creativity” will get a tiny Avenger!

Lilac City Comicon 2019 Wrap up: Pay-It-Forward and Penguin Adoptions

Nathan O’Brien and his team put together another great show as fans from Spokane and around the world gathered to celebrate pop culture and comics at Lilac City Comicon 2019. Penguinate.com’s table was a dream, and we were so happy to meet so many new people and see some from the last year we were here.

We had five penguins adopted. Lucky, our smallest penguin went to a home with a little girl and her siblings. Perry, our last book bird, is rumored to be headed to Iceland and then to have a Summer at Sea! GooseBeret found a forever home right here in Spokane, and Donald the Auktioneer, our Pirates of the Caribbean tribute penguin, was plucked from the penguin crowd with few words said.

Perhaps, our best moment of the day was when one of the guests decided to pay-it-forward. He bought a $45 penguin and asked us to give it to the next child who really loved the penguins. A girl showed up at our table twice and was ready to get a penguin, not in costume, when we told her about the pay-it-forward, she was so happy. She picked up Flopsy in the pink bunny outfit and took her home. (Unfortunately, we forgot to attach Flopsy passport, so if she contacts us, we will mail it out.)

I sold five books, and the Russian lobby cards were a big hit this time around. Normally, I would do a “loot” video, but my budget this year was small. I was super excited to get a Chunx from Matt Brazee; these toys are stackable. I picked up Sprocket the Comic-Cat because of Sprocket’s connection to Lilac City Comicon. However, Matt is already on at least his fourth series of Chunx, and they are super cool.

I also picked up the start of a new series, “The Memoirs of Elikai,” by D. Alexander. I haven’t time to read it, yet, but the story is about the struggle between destiny and free will. Give it a shot; it’s always nice to help out a new author and you may find a story that you love.

In case you’re keeping count, we’ve sold eight penguins so far this year. We will be making a donation to the Global Penguin Society of $1 per penguin sold near the end of the month. That means right now, we’ve pledged $8 to save penguins in the Southern Hemisphere and the Galapagos Islands (because that’s the only place in the Northern Hemisphere where penguins are naturally occurring.)

Tiny Avengers, Brian C. Baer and Penguins: Lilac City Comicon 2019 Day 2 Preview (Table A1)

With just one more day to go, I wanted to highlight a couple of great things at our table. First, if you know the secret pass phrase and you are one of the first two people to say it at the Penguinate table (A1), you could win a tiny Avenger!

Brian C. Baer will be signing copies of his books from 10:30 to 11:30. Come by and get your copies of “How He-Man Mastered the Universe” and “Bad Publicity.” You might even be able to get him to sign a free chapbook. (Free is a very good price.)

We’re excited that Lucky found a home with a nice family. Our other penguins are waiting for you to take them home. Come join us for the fun at Lilac City Comicon 2019!
